Berlin: area by area – kurfürstendamm – Wittenbergplatz Underground Station
Alfred Grenader, was the architect of the over ground and underground railway from 1899 to 1931, designed a cross-shaped entrance and ticket hall with neo-classical forms and a square tower block.
It also serves as a junction of three platforms with five rail lines - the sixth one was not built, which made the station asymmetrical.
The steel framework structure is faced with shell sandstone slabs.
